WMDMOTORS was founded not just from a love of cars, but from a legacy of resilience, remembrance, and the pursuit of something greater. Established by Rian Robert, in collaboration with Brady Mickelonis, Layla Hielscher and numerous others. WMDMOTORS is more than a garage—it’s a space built to inspire, educate, and connect.
Born from a personal journey through grief, loss, and self-discovery, WMDMOTORS stands in memory of David Robert Gibson Jr. who was an accomplished U.S. Marine and beloved brother tragically lost to suicide. David’s strength, mentorship, and love shaped the foundation of this company, and his memory continues to drive its mission forward.
At its core, WMDMOTORS is a haven for car enthusiasts and future-minded individuals—a place to get your hands dirty, learn the art of automotive craftsmanship, and be part of a supportive community. Whether you’re rebuilding your first engine or just discovering your passion for cars, WMDMOTORS is where that journey begins.
WMDMOTORS proudly supports suicide awareness and prevention—reminding everyone who walks through its doors that they’re not alone, and that purpose can grow from even the darkest roads.
WMDMOTORS is a strong advocate for the national mental health crisis within this country, homelessness crisis, drug crisis, and many more issues as a lot of Americans are. WMDMOTORS will make periodic donations to charitable organizations such as the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention, the Mission22 foundation, Homes4OURTroops, Narcotics Anonymous, and Take Back the Night to begin. WMDMOTORS hopes to revitalize the car/motorsports action within the Rochester, NH and greater Seacoast areas through community, youth, speed, loud cars, and undeniable work ethic and craftsmanship.
WMDMOTORS wants to bring a touch of the late 2000’s So. California motorsports and drag/street/race car culture to New England.

“It was always more than just a car.
It has always been a way of life.”
WMDMOTORS was founded with more than just cars in mind. Behind the tools and torque is a deeply personal story — one of loss, growth, and finding purpose through pain.
Founder Rian Robert grew up learning to work on cars with his father, starting with a 1967 Ford Mustang that never quite made it back to the road, but taught him the fundamentals of hands-on problem-solving. Growing up, Rian’s biggest dream was never in building cars — it was football. His goal was to make it to the NFL and play beside his half-brother, David Robert Gibson Jr., a U.S. Marine and the most influential figure in Rian’s life. David had taught him how to run, catch, throw, hit, tackle, and read both offense and defense — but more than that, he taught him how to navigate a difficult home, marked by instability, abuse, and alcoholism. Through all of it, David was his constant.
On New Year’s Eve 2021, Rian signed his National Letter of Intent to play college football — a major milestone, even at the Division 3 level. But just a few months later, everything changed. On Mother’s Day morning, while preparing chocolate-covered strawberries for his mom, Rian learned that David had taken his own life. The loss of David marked a turning point. While Rian continued playing college football, the weight of grief, multiple concussions, and a growing sense of isolation made it impossible to continue. Eventually, he left school and returned home, only to be thrown out during a family altercation on December 30th, 2022. At his lowest point, he was in the process of enlisting — not out of ambition, but because he simply didn’t want to come back.
What changed his path again was the kindness of a few people — Denise Davis, Jesse Davis, and especially Layla Hielscher and Brady Mickelonis, who introduced him to the idea that cars could be more than just machines. That they could be art. That they could be healing. With their support, Rian got back on his feet and found purpose under the hood. What started as a way to stay grounded became a vision — and that vision grew into WMDMOTORS.
Today, WMDMOTORS exists as both a business and a memorial. The name honors the work ethic, dedication, and precise engineering that is required for the production of Weapons of Mass Destruction — WMD — and the work honors David’s unrelenting work ethic.
“I had to stop punishing him with extra sprints because he’d just laugh, then I made him start beat crawling and a week later he was laughing during those too…”
-Ron Ross (sometime fall of 2016)
A 1987 Porsche 944 project car is being built as a company asset in David’s name, with plans for a full 928 front-end conversion to honor Davids’s birthday 9/28, an engine swap, and more years down the line. This will be more than just a build — it’s a tribute to a fallen warrior.
While WMDMOTORS is not a nonprofit, its foundation will always be rooted in suicide awareness and prevention. Because this company was never just about cars. It’s about what keeps people going — even when the road gets dark.
